This month we focus on songs with few lyrics

This is Tin
This episode I'm going to listen through some songs with very few lyrics, as always they'll be The worst hits of all time.
Fly, Robin, Fly Silver Convention 1975
Just Six words to this painfully humdrum hit
1959 Earliest modern recording; Harry Belafonte Hava Nagila
Just 9 words, Jewish music, surrounds the feeling around Harvest;
Let’s rejoice and be happy!
Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
The tracks title loosely translating as “The Garden of life”
Look I know these are the worst hits of all time, and this is kind of a stinker, we can only assume the songs meaning,
“Oh, won't you come with me
And take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me
And walk this land”,
But underlying is an overworked heavy/psychedelic rock musical epic, which keeps you listening for some time! And that is to say, the track goes on for 17 minutes!!!!! 17 minutes and just 30 words in the song, but a large portion of the tune is not having the lyrics read out over the top…. Some “nice” inverted commas experimental guitar string scratching, leads into some awful “Church organ esque” keyboard playing…….. Rolls on, drums rolling on…. Then the keyboards have now gone olde Egyptian? More guitar string scratching, this is painful!
1980 - 1995 It's a beautiful day by Queen, I apologise to Queen fans, but this song is bad, oversung, lyrics that don't really go anywhere, musically does it even have a tune? If so, for me it's forgotten as soon as my listening stops, the song being overpowered by Freddie's insights as to the beauty of the day. This song is like when your friends invite you round to see holiday snaps, that have been taken using their smartphone, which really fail to capture the majesty of what they experienced.
And there we go, I have run out of time for this episode, I really have more tunes waiting to map out the danger zones in the soundscape loosely termed popular music.
